| The Mill Creek roughly divides Cincinnati into the west and east sides. Like many urban streams it suffers from the afflictions of industrial waste, sewage, sedimentation, channelization and impoundment. The valley it forms is a home to industry and many poor communities and serves as a transportation corridor. The native people of the area referred to the stream as Maketewah. Recently many Central American, Mexican, and East African immigrants have been moving into the predominately Afro American and Appalachian communities. The photographs were taken between 2001 and 2007. |
